We believe that the most effective way to reach new people and "do evangelism" is to start new churches. This generalization holds true across cultures and languages, and is observed around the world. Research into how churches grow also shows that churches which plants new "daughter" churches grow faster than those that don't invest in new congregations.

BGCA's goal and desire is for each of our churches to participate in the mission of reaching our world for Christ by helping start new churches. For many of our churches, the best way to start doing this is to team up with 2-3 other churches  to start a new church. Each church can contribute people, financial resources and prayer/practical support to the new ministry.

Why start new churches?

Don’t we already have enough churches? Our church isn’t full yet, why should we help start another? Isn’t this a risky thing to try – why don’t they just help my church? These questions shape our thinking and our actions. Regardless of how well (or not) your church is growing, we still need to start new congregations for many reasons:

• All churches follow life cycle (birth, growth, maturity, old age, death) – new churches restart the life cycle.
• The most effective evangelism method under heaven is starting new churches – global research confirms this.
• We start new churches to speak new languages, reach new people and cultures, develop new leaders, use different styles and methods. Most of our established churches can’t change enough to meet these new needs effectively.
• As Paul says in I Cor. 9, “I have become a servant of everyone so that I can bring them to Christ… Yes,  I try to find common ground with everyone.”

The ultimate answer is that we start new churches to fulfill the Great Commission, to make disciples of all the nations.
